Clinical Dietician   Location Lebanon Field Office – Beqa’a area – Central Lebanon area – North Lebanon area – Saida area –Tyrearea Type of Appointment Contractor (1 post – part time) Deadline for Application 12  February 2015 Vacancy Announcement Number 998/2015 Department/Division Health Programme    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: (A)    Is responsible to the Field Disease Control Officer and through him to D/CFHP and provides technical guidance to all medical officers on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases namely Diabetes Mellitus. (B)    Participate in developing a strategy with regard to the management of Diabetes Mellitus, including creating guidelines, materials and tools to help diabetic patients as well as at risk patients of developing diabetes mellitus to improve their eating habits (C)    Conduct periodic visits to the health centers   to better support staff with management of patients and encouragement of healthy eating habits among beneficiaries and to  ensure that the programme is implemented in accordance with the approved policies, strategies and procedures of Health Department (D)   Participate in building staff capacity in relation to nutrition by assessing training needs, organizing and implementing training activities (E)    Assist in developing and implementing integrated actions to address obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCD) among health centers and community (F)    Act as the focal point for the coordination of all aspects relating to monitoring, implementation and reporting on the progress of the project; Maintain a data recording, collection and compilation system; analyze and present related statistics (G)   Performs such other duties as may be assigned   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional a)     A university degree in nutrition from a recognized university or medical school; b)    Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.   (B)   Experience At least two years of working experience in the field of nutrition-based programmes, particularly in planning, designing and implementing of nutritional strategies and organizing related training programmes.    (C)  Language        Good working knowledge of spoken and written English and Arabic.   (D)   Skills and Competencies a)     Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment; b)    Ability to exercise sound judgment, demonstrated problem –solving skills; c)     Good command of medical terminology; d)    Excellent communication and negotiation skills; e)     Ability to organize and implement training programmes, ability to develop staff; f)     Very good analytical and reporting skills; g)    Good computer skills, especially programmes used by UNRWA.     DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS a)     Experience in planning and organization of training programmes; b)    Advanced university degree in Nutrition.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Salary: As per relevant salary scale (20 working days per month) Contract Duration: One year – part time - extendable according to availability of Funds, to fill one post for Lebanon Field Office, Beqa’a area, Central Lebanon area, North Lebanon area, Saida area,Tyre area.   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   GENERAL INFORMATION UNRWA is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications equally from men and women.
