Private Sector Development Expert

AMEG will be conducting a three-month long assessment in Lebanon is to evaluate impediments to private sector growth — particularly the growth of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) — and opportunities for USAID to remove or alleviate these impediments in the future. The assessment will target five different areas for potential USAID assistance: 1) increase the institutional capacity of business associations and chambers; 2) improve business development services (BDS); 3) increase trade and export linkages; 4) support workforce development; and 5) identify opportunities for growth in special economic zones.   To support this activity, AMEG is seeking recommendations for local private sector competitiveness experts. The total LOE is currently estimated at 20 days per expert and can potentially be extended longer. It is expected to be used on/about January – March 2014. The local consultants will assist in identifying  potential counterparts and interviewees, conduct desk research on selected topics, participate in meetings, etc.   The team is currently looking for three Lebanese experts: Institutional Analysis/Business Development Services Expert Trade and Export Linkages /Special Economic Zones Expert Workforce Development Expert   Qualifications: BA in economics or relevant field. Five to ten years of experience in the given field; experience with private sector or governmental counterparts preferred. Demonstrated research skills in private sector development.
