Child Protection Officer (Case Management) Zahle

ROLE PURPOSE: Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Coordinator (and overall guidance of the Child Protection Program Manager), the Child Protection Officer (Case Management Officer) will be responsible for implementing activities related to case management and alterative care.   While the CP Officer (Case Management) will work across all areas, his/her work will focus primarily on developing the capacity of local NGOs to appropriately apply Child Protection Working Group in Emergencies Case Management Practical Guidance as well as non-emergency focused Case Management Procedures with special attention to Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC) and  alternative care.  KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:   The key roles and responsibilities for the Child Protection Officer (Case Management) are:   1.    Rôles et responsab Contribution to the implementation of Child Protection Program Provide technical input and deliver (or support the delivery of) activities in the area of child protection in close coordination with other child protection team members and projects especially community based child protection activities Integrated work with other SC sectors, such as education, shelter, health, food security and livelihoods Work across different contexts, including local communities, informal settlements, community spaces etc with a particular focus on outreach work and support in identification, referral and case management of the most vulnerable children (in line with organizational strategy) With the Child Protection team, contribute to developing and implementing project work plans, weekly plans and schedules, and setting clear targets. Prepare financial and administrative documentation related to project activities, such as purchase and procurement requests, invoices, etc Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of child protection and child safeguarding at all times, including respect for confidentiality and always acting in the best interests of the child. Comply with Save the Children policies and practices with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures. In agreement with CP Coordinator and CP Program Manager, perform other required duties within reason (in line with skills and experience)   2.    Case Management Programme Work in close collaboration with the CP Team in Bekaa and with the Senior Case Management and Alternative Care Specialist to map services, referral pathways, relevant local case management actors, as well as the situation of UASC and alternative care practices. Develop and implement trainings (and provide on-going coaching) for local NGOs on referral systems and applying Child Protection Working Group in Emergencies Case Management Practical Guidance as well as non-emergency focused Case Management Procedures, with particular focus on UASC cases and the implementation of technical tools and practical guidance (in proves of development) on alternative care. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor degree in social work, social sciences or similar. At least 3 years work experience in case management and social work (preferably with an INGO or NGO) and on cases involving children and vulnerable families. Proven experience in developing/conducting trainings and providing on-going coaching (preferably in the area of case management and child protection). Excellent understanding of child rights, child protection, psychosocial support, child and youth resilience and empowerment, community development and human rights. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, and capacity to maintain relations with community leaders, members, children and youth. Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches and child safeguarding policies and procedures. Familiarity with the Bekaa region and context. Flexibility and adaptability, and willingness to work in informal settlements, sometimes in difficult conditions and with limited resources. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, good written and spoken English. Ability to write weekly and monthly reports, develop schedules and collect data.
