Assessment/ Distribution Team Leader

Working as important members of a diverse team, the distribution and assessment team leaders will be responsible for the distribution of shelter kits, WASH materials, and NFIs throughout the Bekaa region.   Medair’s team in Lebanon distributes essential items, assists with improving tented shelters and poor housing conditions, and provides water, sanitation, and hygiene materials and trainings. These projects complement other shelter, site improvement, health and GIS mapping activities.  Management Manage team of assistants along with a team of casual laborers in the field activities Oversee and plan team schedules and work plans. Organise and submit work plans to the Project Manager and coordinate and lead all teams in the field Ensure field teams are fully supported and prepared with necessary security and context briefing to undertake field work. Ensure teams are trained and ready to use LMMS/ODK registration on site, solve problems as they occur Follow Medair Assessment procedures and criteria Complete necessary monitoring and evaluation procedures for assessment activities, cross-checking data Know the criteria for assessment/ distribution of different shelter, WASH, and NFI/FI kits and ensure accuracy with assessments Coordination Work closely with Distribution Team Leader and Community Officer to planning future work and distribution schedules Ensure the community support team is organized on distribution & assessment days Organize the necessary casual labor required for each week through the Casual Labor Focal Point Work alongside the logistics department to coordinate assessments and complete necessary paper work Participate in weekly project team meetings Communication Report any security or non-compliance incidents to Shelter & NFI Project Manager Liaise closely with the Community Officer during distributions to keep stakeholders informed and to direct beneficiaries to the helpdesk Professionally handle and address any complaints, report issues back to the Project Manager Work with the Community Officer to develop and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, other NGOs, and any other stakeholders whilst representing Medair and ensuring good co-operation and partnerships Remain up to date with UNHCR procedures and referral forms. Assist in translation as needed Ensure that communication with the beneficiaries is clear, identify gaps and report back to management Meet regular and occasional reporting requirements according to Medair procedures Conduct post distribution visits Security & Loss Prevention Monitor security procedures and potential threats during assessments Assist with crowd organisation and enforce security measures Understand and implement Medair security protocol procedures. Be aware of the potential for loss or fraud in logistical activities and procedures. Take pro-active steps to prevent such occurrences by ensuring adherence to Medair guidelines on fraud prevention, and work with relevant line managers to improve transparency and to ensure the best use of Medair assets and resources Assist in conducting regular loss prevention/fraud training with all staff and casual laborers  Person Specification 1 year of previous NGO experience Post-qualification professional or practical experience including team management Good working knowledge of geography and culture of the Bekaa Valley region. Strong working knowledge of Arabic and English (spoken and written) Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required. Working knowledge of Access Databases and other Windows packages also, preferred Enjoys a challenge and works hard to achieve objectives Team-player with good inter-personal skills, willing to share tasks and delegate Good understanding of humanitarian context/issues preferred Aptitude for community mobilisation and engagement Strong and adaptable communication skills, particularly verbal skills Able to take initiative in planning, organisation and execution Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels Ability to work within hostile environments and deal with conflict
