General objective of the job
The Education Mentor monitors and supports teachers in providing quality non-formal education in the Syrian Refugees Emergency Project.
Position in the organisation
The Education Mentor is part of the Quality Department reporting to the Education Specialist.
S/he does not manage staff.
S/he collaborates with the Education Programs.
Responsibilities
Result areas
1. Supporting teachers in the field
• Ensures that periodic visits and monitoring takes place in schools.
• Assesses teacher training needs based on school visits and collection of regular data
• Assists in developing a monitoring and evaluation framework for both students’ and teachers’ assessment
• Ensures, promotes and facilitates that the principles of child protection and child participation are integrated into all project activities
• Prepares and submits monthly reports on teachers and students performance
• Ensures a strict adherence to War Child Holland Child Safety and Protection Policies at all times, including respect for confidentiality and child centred approach, acts in the best interests of the child
Result: Teachers are supported in such a matter that assessments are made and a monitoring and evaluation framework is established.
2. Coordinating and communicating
• Coordinates trainings, workshops and conferences as requested
• Ensures child protection concerns are communicated to the Child Protection working groups
• Coordinates and communicates with Filed Officers, Project Coordinators and Project Managers and generally works closely with the WCH Lebanon team
Result: Coordination and communications are conducted in such a way that requests are answered and Child Safety/ Protection concerns are reported.
