Ncd Research Project Coordinator

Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (JHSPH), in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and MIT-Sana has planned a 2 year research project to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment guidelines and an mHealth intervention (consisting of a software application and a patient managed medical record) on patient and provider compliance, control of disease, and quality of care and health outcomes among patients with hypertension and type II diabetes in five clinics supported by IOM in Southern Lebanon and Bekaa. The intent is to develop/adapt and test NCD diagnosis and management guidelines that can be used or adapted for IOM and other agencies in future crises. Under the overall supervision of the IOM Representative in Lebanon and the Health Coordinator at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Beirut, the NCD research project coordinator will be responsible and accountable for carrying out activities related to the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities. In particular, he/she will: Organize and participate in the different planning meetings and ensure the implementation of agreed upon activities Act as a liaison between IOM and relevant stakeholders for the NCD project. Visit IOM supported primary healthcare centers (PHC) and mobile medical units in Bekaa and the South on a regular basis to ensure proper implementation of project related activities Coordinate all data collection activities and make sure that all requested data collection tasks are being fulfilled appropriately by data collectors Keep contact with center managers and other relevant PHC staff regularly throughout the research project duration Make sure that deadlines for project activities are being met within the planned budget and resource limits Draft reports on the progress of various project activities on a regular basis Assist the IOM health coordinator and public health specialist in the management of the daily activities related to the NCD project. Coordinate other activities conducted by IOM for the NCD project including but not limited to purchase and distribution of materials, preparation of data collection forms, participant enrolment activities, arranging trainings and meetings. Participate in assessments/surveys of the beneficiaries’ health needs and needs of the supported centers. Report any difficulties and challenges to the health coordinator and IOM Beirut emergency health unit Monitor health projects’ process, specifically with the aim of increasing effectiveness and recommending appropriate actions in coordination with the National Public Health Specialist and Health coordinator at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Beirut. Education and Experience
a) Undergraduate/postgraduate degree in a health related area (preferably, epidemiology, healthcare management, medical sciences or medical informatics); b) minimum two years of relevant work experience, including experience in research; c) experience in the public health sector in Lebanon; knowledge of project development, implementation and monitoring is an advantage; d) demonstrated understanding of the humanitarian system through work experience and/or studies; e) willingness to undertake frequent travel to field locations across Lebanon.
