Wash Team Leader

PREMIERE URGENCE   AIDE MEDICALE INTERNATIONALE -         LEBANON    -                                                            Team Leader   Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious humanitarian NGO. Its objective is to bring about a global response to the basic needs of populations suffering from acute humanitarian crisis and to allow them to recover their autonomy and dignity.   Today, PU-AMI is intervening in 21 countries in Africa, the Near East, Caucasus, Asia and the Caribbean to cover the needs of populations affected by conflict, natural disasters or economic crises.   PU-AMI in Lebanon has been implementing emergency and recovery projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, in Shelter Rehabilitation, Health and in Livelihood Recovery sectors.                 POSITION GENERAL INFORMATION   Position: Team Leader Component: WASH Based in: Akkar   Supervision   Under the direct supervision of:       Wash Project Manager Under the indirect supervision of:   Project Implementation Coordinator Supervision of  : Senior Field Officers, Field Officers, Field Workers, Community members, Daily workers, Contractors Under the overall supervision of:    Field Coordinator   OVERALL MISSION   General objective   Under the direct supervision of the Field Implementation Manager, the WASH Team Leader is responsible for the qualitative, quantitative and timely implementation of all the Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene activities. He/she coordinates and monitors the work of all Senior Field Officers, Field Officers and Field Workers dedicated to these activities and he/she is responsible for a qualitative and regular reporting on various components of the project.   Responsibilities and tasks   Activities implementation -       Supervise and coordinate the field implementation of all program activities -       Plan (daily and weekly) the field activities, supervise Senior Field Officers, Field Officers, Field Workers and any potential contractors and ensure a follow-up of the different activities regarding the agreed planning, guideline, and required quality of the works -       Ensure that all measures have been taken and rules followed to ensure security on-site -       Give an expertise and contribute to the improvement of activities through critics, analysis and suggestions to the Technical Advisors   Assessment, monitoring & evaluation of activities -       Assess regularly the WASH implementation and determine adjustment needs -       Collect any relevant information from the communities and partners for referral system -       Analyze and monitor the results of the WASH activities   Community mobilization -       Responsible of the communication between PU-AMI and the Communities regarding the implementation of the WASH activities -       Introduce the WASH activities to the Communities -       Mobilize and encourage the Communities for the activities (daily and free worker) -       Organize meeting with Communities according to the different MoU   Team Management -       Supervise the Senior Field Officers, Field Officers, Field Workers and ensure the respect of all human resources rules -       Manage the Wash Officers/Workers working on the wash activities in the supported facilities and in the communities -       Coordinate the work of all Senior Field Officers, Field Officers, Field Workers dedicated to these activities: weekly/daily planning explaining during weekly/daily team meetings and daily planning prepared at least the day before to maximize the officers’ efficiency   Capacity building -       Monitor regularly the Wash officer’s work by constantly visiting to the areas of intervention and getting feedback when not directly on the field -       Train new Wash Field Officers/Workers on the activities implemented in the framework of the project -       Solve team conflicts, if any, and ensure team building -       Support each Wash Field Officer/Worker in improving his/her performance -       Conduct appraisals every six months with each Wash Field Officer/Worker -       Develop any pedagogical and methodological tools adapted to the local context   Logistic & administration -       Define the needs in materials and tools regarding the program and the planning of interventions -       Ensure the follow-up and the proper use of materials and tools used during on-site works -       Manage the supply of materials to the work site in collaboration with logistics department -       Use the PU-AMI forms for all exchange with the logistic & administration services -       Analyze the security situation in the area and inform the Field Implementation Manager on the security incidents   Reporting -       Collect all information and orally reports on the progress of WASH activities on a daily basis -       Make a weekly report in English on the progress of activities -       Report immediately any delay, problem or other relevant information to the Field Implementation Manager   The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project needs.   QUALIFICATIONS     Mandatory requirements Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and English (speaking/reading/writing) Education degree: Baccalaureate/University degree in one of this fields : water supply, sanitation, infrastructures, construction works, health, social or medical sciences Work experience: at least 2 years of experience in a similar position (NGOs/private companies) in WASH fields Computer skills: Good knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, Outlook Other: -          High knowledge in one of the WASH pillars -          Good management and pedagogical skills -          Good knowledge of North Governorate, willing to travel a lot locally and valid driving license (for more 1 year minimum) -          Excellent communication and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations   Assets Other  knowledge: -       Good skills in reports and contracts redaction Interest: -       Strong motivation to help people in need -       Understanding of the political situation in the area Transversal skills: -       Well organized -       Conflict resolution and diplomacy experience -       Ability to analyze and suggest improvement -       Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work -
