Child Protection Case Worker-Tripoli

We are looking for a highly qualified motivated candidate to be a Child protection case worker in Tripoli. Who are we DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the job Duties General Responsibility Carry out daily case management visits with individuals or families referred to DRC for case management services Set up and train the youth committees in the community centres identified by DRC. Organise focus group discussions or other collection of relevant data when needed. Participate in protection related assessments, trainings and meetings as instructed by the supervisor. Specific tasks CASE MANAGEMENT Conduct home visits to vulnerable individual’s or families’ homes and ensure case management by: Assessing the individual’s or the families’ needs and providing basic counselling and psychological first aid to the family. Setting up an intervention action plan jointly with the individual or family. Providing social counselling, awareness, guidance, emotional support when needed. Assisting the individual or families with material or financial assistance when needed and according to DRC’s financial assistance guidelines. Referring individuals and families to appropriate services and ensure post referral follow up. Conducting regular home visits to follow up on families and assess the progress of the action plan. Assessing the situation of the family after services have been provided to ensure needs are met. Disseminating and sharing information with Persons of Concern on their rights and access to services. Ensuring proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies). Setting up necessary measures and create conducive environment to ensure confidentiality during interviews and to secure sensitive information. Keeping good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders. Closely coordinating with other relevant staff on protection issues (even if it is across departments).   COMMUNITY SUPPORT –YOUTH COMMITTEES In coordination with the CP officer and Community development colleagues help set up youth committees in the community centres run by DRC in Tripoli. Train, coach and mentor youth participating in the committee on issues such as: basic CP concepts, children’s and human rights, awareness on gender issues, and child protection concerns such as access to education, early marriage, etc, as well as how to refer children for services. Monitor the youth committee is functioning adequately and help them organise community support activities, or awareness sessions for community members. AWARENESS SESSIONS – INFORMATION With guidance from the child protection officer and the child protection coordinator develop awareness raising materials on child protection issues, including on child protection topics for children. Provide awareness sessions on child protection topics to duty bearers. Provide awareness sessions on child protection topics to others if requested by SGBV or protection departments or partners.. Reporting Keep accurate and trustworthy records of the visits (including the actions to be taken) and update the physical file and the database accordingly. Maintain physical and electronic records of the meetings with the youth committees, and any actions taken with the committee Write field visit reports on major findings, needs and problems faced; Contribute to the overall protection/CS monthly report underlining protection issues and related trends and figures in coordination with the CP officer, Others Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the supervising officer  About you To be successful in this role you must have Bachelor degree in social work, counseling, psychology or any other relevant major with at least 2 years experience in counseling mainly with children. Ideally you will also have a Masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology or any other relevant field with a minimum 2 years experience with NGO.
