Accountant

  The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative, a project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) implemented by the United States Forest Service (USFS), seeks a short-term (three-month) accountant for its Beirut office.  The accountant is responsible for effective and efficient project financial management, accounting, and budgeting. S/he applies accounting principles and procedures, provides accurate and timely financial information to LRI managers and project management, and ensures appropriate accounting control procedures.   Essential job tasks and responsibilities include:   Oversee cash flow planning and assure availability of funds. Manage banking activities such as check payments, wire transfers, etc. Prepare quarterly projections for programmatic and administrative expenses. Manage bank payment vouchers and ensure that all bank transactions are properly documented. Organize and maintain accurate and complete accounting records. Manage monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare payroll. File financial reports with the Ministry of Finance and VAT as needed.   The ideal candidate should possess the following competencies, skills and experience:   Strong academic background and proven practical experience in the fields of accounting, finance, and budgeting; Demonstrated track record of success in project accounting and finance, ideally in a non-profit organization context; Strong analytical and inter-personal skills; Excellent reporting and presentation skills; Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.   Interested candidates are invited to send a curriculum vitae and letter of interest to jaljawhary@lri-lb.org by September 22.
