Educational Advisor

Rainbow of Hope Program Educational Advisor / General Coordinator Terms of Reference   SFCG will implement the “Rainbow of Hope” project, funded by the US Embassy in Lebanon, which aims at building the capacities of Lebanese and Syrian children aged from 6 to 11 through American English classes provided by trained teachers, as well as through recreational activities conducted by trained animators, across Lebanon. The project will take place over the course of 10 months. The Educational Advisor will work closely with the Project Coordinator and the Regional English Language Officer to oversee the educational component of the program. This includes acting as the direct liaison for the teachers that work on this program and conducting regular visits to the classrooms across the country.   The educational advisor will liaise with several actors:   -      The Project coordinator -      SFCG Country Director and Programme Director -      The 25 English teachers -      The Regional English Language Officer -      Other US Embassy Personnel   The education advisor will work under the supervision of the Project coordinator.   Main Tasks Report to the Project Coordinator and SFCG Country Director Provide technical advice to teachers   Provide technical advice concerning the selection of the educational material Monitor and review teachers’ reports from the field Conduct visits to classes over the course of the project to evaluate the technical implementation of the project activities and deliver recommendations accordingly Actively participate in technical workgroups responsible for the program follow-up in which the expert can provide positive contributions; i.e. Trainings, wrap up sessions, bimonthly evaluation meetings.   Profile (Qualifications and experience required):   •     Master of Arts / Master of Science degree in Education or related field; •     10 years of relevant experience, of at least 5 in supporting the Education Sector of developing and / or transition countries. Knowledge and experience in Education Sector planning is a distinctive asset. •     Extensive experience in quality improvement projects in education, such as teacher training strategies, curriculum reforms, decentralization, etc. •     Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation methodologies; •     Demonstrated interpersonal, coordination, negotiation and diplomatic skills; •     Extensive professional experience in a multicultural context; •    Proficiency in English (speaking – writing – reading - listening). Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
