Protection Assistant

Purpose:  To identify protection concerns within WV areas of operations (central and west Bekka) and conduct home visits to vulnerable families, manage sensitive information in line with ICRC’s Professional Standards for Protection Work, refer matters in line with existing inter-agency referral mechanisms and internal WV guidance and monitor protection mainstreaming  in all projects.  Major Tasks:   Monitor protection risks and needs in projects sites Visit project sites and fill out the checklist  on monthly basis Report daily and weekly to the field protection officer  identify protection cases from the field and receive cases referred from  field staff Conduct home visits to identified vulnerable families Fill out inter agency referral form  and needs assessment Refer cases to service providers Disseminate and share information on available services to staff and beneficiaries Ensure roper filing is done regarding every case, visit and discussion. Report must be written mentioning major points in addition to recommendations and follow-up plan Discuss with other social workers specific case studies for better intervention. Maintain adequate safeguards for the privacy of the family and confidentiality of information  KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS  Understanding of humanitarian work, principles and challenges Minimum 1 year experience in social work. Good command of English, both written and oral. Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity. Positive attitude with a willingness to learn. Flexibility in accomplishing tasks. Ability to cope and work under pressure. Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package. Willing to travel within Lebanon with a valid driver’s license  Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team Work Environment: 85 % travel required 15 % desk job EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time – Contract
