Area Officer - Child Protection

BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee is an international organization specializing in Emergency and humanitarian programming existing since 1933 and working in more than 40 countries. In response to the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the IRC started a Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) program and a Livelihood program in 2012 with program strategies implemented in various locations in the Northern and Beka’a Governorates. IRC is now complementing their response with a Child Protection (CP) program in Mont Lebanon and the North. SCOPE OF WORK: Brief description of the position’s role within the Project(s): The Area officer is responsible to manage the field assistant and ensure the good delivery of the activity. Who this position reports to: The area Officer reports to the CP Manager RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Quality Develop the schedule for the field assistant and their work in the field Ensure that the logistical material and transportation are available for the appropriate running of activities Work with the Community Mobilization Officer in the introduction of IRC in the field, ensure that for each location an MoU is developed Support, supervise and monitor the activities of the field assistants Ensure a standardized approached between the different communities Ensure the correct referrals of cases needing case management and psychosocial support Compile the weekly report of the field assistants Raise up to the Child Protection Manager any challenges or constrains Participate in the development of best practices and lesson learned Facilitate and co-facilitate training when required  Any other CP activity as required Other Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of field teams; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and  liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs Professional Standards All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies. REQUIREMENTS: Experience in working with children and organizing activities Experience in community mobilization Working experience in NGO Experience in delivering training Experience in management Minimum of 5 years working experience Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoying working in the field Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, English speaking is a plus
