2. Description of Work focus
Based on our World Vision Lebanon important role in achieving a socioeconomic development in the marginalized area, Akkar ADP designed this small project to support technically and financially the Most Vulnerable farmers to provide well for their children. It is very important to highlight how this kind of project can create an effective change within the families:
On the social level: the family will be the decision maker of her own destiny, the women will be achieve kind of gender equality and the children will perceive their mothers as active productive instead of passive and marginalized, family members will be equipped with technical knowledge and skills to keep the goats.
On the economic level , since the keeping of the goats don’t have high cost , than they will decrease the spending by consuming the products or they can increase the income by selling the dairy product , even the women will take part of economic growth with their enormous contributions.
Hence, the current project is aligned with the ED project design by providing goats and trainings on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for the Most Vulnerable (MV) farmers in the area.
3. Scope of work
The consultant will:
Set with the Development Facilitator the selection criteria of the appropriate goats.
Set with the Development Facilitator the selection criteria of the target group based on the standards of the Goats Keeping.
Explore the quality of the potential goats and give his approval to buy them.
Provide three training sessions for the 68 farmers in total on Goat keeping Best Practices.
Provide four field visits to the 68 farmers (two before the distribution in order to monitor the keeping venue) and two after the distribution in order to monitor the farmers’ practices.
Provide a four page report, where he highlights the findings of his field visits and his future recommendations .report including the findings of the field visits.
4. Deliverables
The consultant will have 2 months to complete all the tasks outlined in section 3 above. The assignment includes both office and field work. The consultant will be working closely with the Economic Development Facilitator as well as the Economic Development Specialist for all technical-related tasks (field visit, training sessions, e
tc..).
At the end of the assignment, the consultant is expected to have produced a report which shows:
1- Provide a four page report, where he highlights the findings of his field visits and his future recommendations .report including the findings of the field visits
5. Work Period
The Work Period will be from 28th of July 2014 till 18th of September 2014.
