Social Worker (Sw/t5/unicef)

INTRO Terre des Hommes Italy, nongovernmental international organization, is recruiting a Social Worker to be involved in the implementation of Education and Protection projects for Syrian Refugees and affected populations in North Lebanon funded by UN agencies.   JOB PURPOSE The Social Worker will be the first representative of Terre des Hommes Italia and the project, amongst the beneficiaries their families and the local community. He/she will closely work with local communities, NGOs, local authorities and other civic or community groups to ensure that Terre des Hommes Italia and the project programme have widespread acceptance. He/she will also facilitate achieving the impact of the project.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Foster and maintain positive relationships with local communities, NGOs, local authorities and other civic or community groups; Liaise with key stakeholders to build Terre des Hommes Italia acceptance within local communities to facilitate project implementation, including informing the wider community actors about Terre des Hommes Italia`s activities, as well as with relevant project staff to ensure programmatic synergies; Identify potential beneficiaries and inform their families about Terre des Hommes activities: Conduct regular monitoring and generate monitoring report on qualitative and quantitative progress of project; Carry out daily field visits and conduct focus group discussions/participatory assessments/rapid protection assessment; Conduct visits to vulnerable families’ homes, assess their needs and report accordingly by: Filling out a questionnaire, conduct interviews using physical files or androids Identifying individuals with specific needs and referring them to the appropriate facilities Identifying protection problems (such as separation of family members, security, sexual and gender-based violence, etc.) Disseminating and sharing information with persons of concern on their rights and access to services Monitor protection risks and needs Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies) Organize data collection related to protection monitoring of beneficiaries Keep good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders Maintain excel database to ensure that statistics and other reports are produced on a timely basis; Closely coordinate with relevant staff on protection issues. Implement Terre des Hommes Child Protection policy; Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Terre des Hommes and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission; Other assigned tasks, as necessary.    Experience and requirements University degree in social work, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience with NGOs in community based work, preferably protection-related projects; Strong understanding of refugee issues in the current Lebanon context; Experience in community mobilization in deprived communities Good knowledge of the area/region and its local customs Excellent communications skills, with good understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues and ability to work with refugee and host community populations; Written and oral communication skills in English preferred; Positive, respectful attitude and collaborative approach to problem solving; Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently as well as cooperatively with team members; Significant knowledge and understanding of the current political, economic, cultural and historical context of North Lebanon preferred; Experience  in psychosocial support activities preferred Capacity to work in team and flexibility to take on new tasks. Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds Proven ability to negotiate multiple relationships with various partners. Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations Cultural sensitivity and adaptability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
