Education Officer (Eo/t5/unicef)

INTRO Terre des Hommes Italy, nongovernmental international organization, is recruiting an Education Officer to be involved in the implementation of Education and Protection projects for Syrian Refugees and affected populations in North Lebanon funded by UN agencies.   JOB PURPOSE The Education Officer will oversee the implementation of the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) and Remedial Classes (RC) for affected communities under the supervision of the Project Manager. The Education Officer will work towards ensuring the programme is of a high technical quality, monitoring processes are in place, that timely reporting occurs, and that the programme is continually assessed and solutions quickly put in place for a change of context. The Education Officer will work extensively with other sectors. S/he will be required to submit weekly reports to the Project Officer and/or to the Project Managers.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Education Officer will: Lead the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) and Remedial Classes (RC) component of the Education programme and provide technical support as needed to other regions. Finalize operational work plans, set clear targets and activity plans per school for the ALP/RC and awareness sessions. These targets and activity plans should be communicated clearly to the Project Manager as well as to the teachers and other project staff. Participate in design and implementation of education assessments (i.e. teachers training needs, students’ participation, school management, parents/community involvement in education etc.). Participate in design of training programs based on needs assessments. Develop training modules, both in English and Arabic Participate in organization, facilitation and implementation of training modules / training programs for education staff - teachers, administrative staff, supervisors, counselors etc. Ensure regular monitoring are in place , data collection and timely reporting of activities is done in a timely manner . Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the Syrian refugee children and their families in the community, with specific attention paid to the project targeted children and their education level. Evaluate the progress in learning and the learning abilities of the beneficiaries Constantly liaise with school authorities, students, parents and communities representatives. Organize and facilitate workshops/ sensitization sessions on education and child protection (and other topics as needed) with students, parents, community members & leaders. Provide facilitation, organizational and logistical support to project staff engaged in trainings related to education/protection/development issues. Ensure that the projects implemented are realized in a timely manner and as per the objectives and planned activities. Provide timely reports to the supervisors. Be the representative of TdH-It towards local, national and international institutions and organization according to the PM indications. Participate in coordination meetings with national and international institutions and education cluster where appropriate. Any other tasks required to accomplish the project objectives.   Candidate Requirements. QUALIFICATIONS University degree in Education/ Development related field/ Psycho-social studies or Sociology required. At least three years experience in education, preferably in an NGO environment or educational setting An understanding of formal and non-formal education Understanding of government institutions, particularly the public school Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to plan strategically A demonstrated understanding of national development issues in particular in relation to children Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work with incoming teams in the event of major emergencies Experience in designing & facilitating training programs and in community sensitization/ mobilization. Ability to work under pressure Strong documentation, research and report writing skills. Background in curriculum and syllabus design. Willingness to travel to multiple field sites.
