The Health Education Field Assistant (HEFA) will be responsible to provide assistance and support to the health education program implemented by International Medical Corps in the South.
The HEFA will work to guarantee and improve the implementation of health education activities provided by IMC health education staff. Additionally, the HEFA will contribute to use of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on weekly and monthly basis the South HE activities and updates to the HEPM, the Health Education Support and Specialist (HES).
Place in the Organization
The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Health Education Program Manager (HEPM) in the South and under the supervision of the HES, will actively insure the implementation of the HE activities. The HEFA will need to conduct daily visits to the South regions and work with the Community Health Educators and Community Health Workers of each region as well as to coordinate with the International Medical Corps health team.
Functions and responsibilities
With guidance from the HEPM and in collaboration with the HES, the HEFA will work closely together on matters of supervision of the health education team in the South, and provide direct coaching and mentoring, with the current HEFA in the south, of the International Medical Corps’s clinic based community health educators (CHEs) and outreach CHEs and workers.
To facilitate delivering health promotion programs based on program needs and commitments and ensure proper health education activities the HEFA will need to:
1. Assist the HEPM in the implementing of the program of public health education and promoting establishment of local health services.
2. Facilitate the health education TOT training in the Bekaa to set up the clinic based health education program and promote outreach community based programs.
3. Identify the needs for health promotion and community services for people. 4. Supervise and work closely with the Community health educators and workers on a daily basis field visits.
5. Get engaged in distribution of health information materials, such as brochures, posters, kits …
6. Get engaged in establishment or expansion of health education programs in the local health services and provides technical assistance to individuals and groups conducting health conferences, workshops, and training courses.
7. Answers health information requests received by department or reviews correspondence.
8. Conduct special health education campaigns during epidemics, outbreaks, instances of food poisoning, and similar emergencies.
9. Assist direct health education activities in public schools.
10. Submit weekly and monthly reports to the HEPM and HES on achievements and provide updates on daily basis.
11. Assist monitoring and evaluation of the health education program activities.
12. Submit reports as requested by the HEPM, HES.
13. Assist monitoring & evaluation of program field activities and ensure targets are met and deadlines respected
14. Attend regular meetings with the HEPM, HES, HEFA, health and mental team.
15. Conduct other duties as requested by line manager.
16. Adhere to all of IMC’s policies and procedures, including Code of Conduct and SOPs.
