Shelter Assistant - Zahle

We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated Shelter Assistant for the DRC Field Offices in Lebanon.   Who are we? DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. Duties   Carry out daily field visits and conduct Focus Group Discussions/ participatory assessments/ rapid assessment related to shelter issues; Improvement of living conditions of the displaced, including provision of shelter solutions and other minor infrastructure projects Identifying abandoned structures to be used as collective shelters Collecting relevant information concerning the identified lands and abandoned structure and report it to the shelter officer Identifying empty lands to set up shelter boxes, Participate in selection of shelter materials, suppliers and skilled labours Ensure the production and construction of the box will be executed by the refugees and hosting community, providing an income based activity to those involved Participate in the development of shelter solutions for displaced, including construction of shelter. Assess logistic and procurement needs of the shelters Negotiate agreements with relevant suppliers Ensure that all procurement procedures are taking place according to DRC standards Assist shelter officer in reporting of activities; Shelter assistance in case of new displacements including contingency planning and emergency stock piles of shelter materials for emergency response.   About you To be successful in this role you must have Technical Degree, good in English written and spoken, 1 to 2 years, working in the construction field and be able to work under pressure. Flexibility in terms of working hours and working locations is essential. As for the language, both English and Arabic are mandatory in speaking and typing.
