Shelter Officer - South

  We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who has the skills to engage in our organization as a Shelter Officer.   Who are we? DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. Duties General Responsibility: Deliver new and rehabilitate old structures to improve the leaving conditions for displaced effected of the Syrian crises Support implementation of minor infrastructure projects Deliver shelter assistance in case of new displacements including contingency planning and stockpiling of emergency shelter materials Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Shelter Manager   Specific tasks Conduct regular field trip for monitoring and supervision of on going shelter projects Data collection and obtain detailed locally technical information and organize community meetings when needed Obtain necessary agreements and understanding from local authorities Survey of existing sites and buildings, including sketching and technical descriptions Design and estimation of projects and constructions cost Preparing of tender documents, drawings and bill of quantities Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in the project and materials based on observations and discussions with team and stakeholders Supervision and monitor construction projects on site Follow up of project costs under the supervision of Project Manager Continuously update project documentation and files Reporting Draft weekly and monthly situation report Prepare minor technical reports, notes for the files and narratives etc Follow up and ensure that projects are executed within allocated budgets and in conformance to the set design and specifications   About you To be considered for the Shelter Officer position, you must have; Bachelor degree as structural engineer or related field of study Practical experience in engineering, including survey, planning and execution of building construction projects Documented skills in project planning and design, drafting, calculation and technical writing. Good computer skills in programs as: Word and Excel Good in English skills – speaking and writing   We offer An interesting job in one of the best NGO’s in the world.
