Responsibilities:
Respects the ethical and clinical considerations;
Familiar with the components of the psychological evaluations;
Detects the frequently seen psychological responses;
Recognizes the factors associated with the psychological response to torture;
Knows how to interpret the psychological findings and formulate a clinical impression;
Knows how the findings should be interpreted;
Able to write a psychological evaluation report;
Studies the psychological history of the victim;
Provides independent psychological expertise to collect evidence of human rights violations and of violations of international humanitarian law;
Makes court appearances;
Establishes crucial psychological findings and evidence that can be communicated to the judiciary and other appropriate bodies;
Once all the evidence is analyzed, the psychologist prepares a written report, and may also testify to these findings in court;
Documents the signs of a possible physical or psychological abuse;
Interprets the proofs obtained and deduce their possible causes;
Pronounces upon the extent to which psychological proofs correlate with specific allegations made by the victim;
Makes effective use of the information obtained in order to document and publicize such practices and ensure that the legal and government authorities, at local, national and international level, are fully informed of the physical and psychological consequences of the type (or types) of torture used;
Coordinates their work with legal experts, forensic doctors and social worker;
Works on promoting the value and use of psychological documentation of torture according to the international standards contained in the Istanbul Protocol, the common name for The Manual on the Effective Investigation and Documentation of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment;
Works with a multidisciplinary team;
Participates in creating a mental health sheet;
Writes Weekly reports;
participates in regular meetings;
Basic mental health interventions such as individual counseling and psychotherapy and group support interventions;
Participates in defining effective and appropriate approaches and interventions;
Explores and detect potential risk factors influencing mental health status of the target population;
Participates in any capacity building activities.
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in clinical psychology
Having undergone his personal therapy
Experience in working with torture and trauma survivors
Ability to work with patients from different backgrounds (cultural, ethnic….)
Excellent command of English
Excellent drafting skills
