We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated Database Assistant to support the design and implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Knowledge (MEAQ) database system in South.
Who are we?
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.
Duties
The Database Assistant (MEAQ) is responsible for designing and strengthening the DRC Lebanon M&E database system to support monitoring, reporting and evaluation activities at field level. This will include technical support to the field monitoring teams with DRC Lebanon’s Android/ODK/Formhub data collection system.
In addition to the above, the selected candidate will have to:
Under the direction of the M&E Manager, the Database Assistant (MEAQ) works as a part of the M&E team to design/develop, test, maintain, support and improve the database and database management systems for M&E.
Obtain, compile and analyze data from on the program indicators, and disseminate in appropriate formats for improving the programmatic decision making and planning process;
Enhance and build capacities of partners and other DRC staff (when deemed necessary) in terms of data base management, data cleaning, and analysis for programmatic decision making through on-going support and trainings.
About you
To be considered for the Database Assistant (MEAQ) position South, you must hold an advanced university degree and have at least three years relevant professional experience working in emergency, development, community, or social work sectors.
Essential qualifications/experience
At least three years relevant professional experience working in emergency, development, community, or social work sectors;
A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or relevant field with significant professional experience;
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic required;
Strong skills in database systems (PostgreSQL, SQL server, MySQL) as well in designing and using FileMaker applications;
Strong IT skills – particularly with Microsoft Office suite (strong Excel skills essential);
Excellent sense of humor, patience, and great attitude is absolutely essential to the position.
Preferable
Previous work with NGOs;
Basic understanding of data security and encryption tools;
Experience with ODK data collection/coding and Formhub;
Training and capacity development experience.
We offer
An interesting job in one of the best NGO’s in the world. DRC will offer the successful applicant contract until end of June 2014, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work May 2014 and be willing and able to work in Tyre.
