Screener For Malnutrition & Iycf

Summary: Screening is an important part of any nutrition program since it helps in the rapid detection and first diagnosis of cases of malnutrition to be treated in later stages. Therefore screeners occupy a primordial role in the screening because they are responsible of collecting the required information for the detection of any malnutrition case. This is why, the success of the screening and the whole data reliability depends on the skills of every screener and its ability to conduct the related tasks. 1. General responsibilities: Identify the eligible children within the family entering the country and manage the measurement. Take anthropometric measurements of children under 5 years, mid upper arm circumference (MUAC), weight and height, edema and collect information on infant and young child feeding. Refer children with malnutrition (SAM and MAM) and refer accordingly. Make sure that all information needed is taken properly and screening and referral forms are filled completely without errors. Daily reporting to screening and assessment coordinator of collected data and correction of mistakes if needed. Mandatory attendance to training on MUAC measurements, height and weight, edema identification, malnutrition diagnosis, screening forms and referrals. Follow assigned schedule and days of work. Appropriate representation of the organization through ethical behavior and making sure that IOCC jackets and IDs are always with screeners. Appropriate handling of the screening material (MUAC, height board, weight scale). Follows security measures. Reports to: Screening and assessment coordinator   2. Qualifications: a- Knowledge and skills: Bachelor Degree in the field of Health/ Nutrition/ Medical Lab/ Social sciences Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic and English is necessary Excellent communication skills amongst other team members and beneficiaries Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills Aware of the general humanitarian ethics. Computer literacy.    b- Experience: 0-1 year of experience with NGO/field work/with beneficiaries.   3. Contacts/Key Relationships: Screening and assessment coordinator, Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator, Area Monitor.   4. Working conditions: Located at the UNHCR vaccination stations at the official border. Preferable that candidate resides near the location of work.
