Field Officer For "fair Trade Towns" Project

Job Purpose Summary:  Fair Trade Lebanon is currently implementing with the support of EU the project “Baldat al-tijara al-adila: First fair trade towns campaign in Lebanon”, in partnership with Mouvement Social. The overall objective of the project is: “Empowering rural municipalities in the social, economic and cultural fields through fair trade and the launching of the first fair trade towns campaign”. The project intends to use fair trade  as a mean to improve the rural municipalities’ capacities and to develop their social, economic and cultural abilities. Each partner organization is seeking to appoint, from April 2014 until December 2015, a Field Officer, assigned with the following duties. Field Officers will be in charge of the smooth implementation of all activities accomplished under the responsibility of its respective organization. He/she will work closely with the Field Officer of the other partner organization for what regards joint activities. Duties/Assignments: Field Officers will:- Attend the meetings of the working group that will be constituted at the beginning of the project in order to set up the Lebanese “Fair Trade Towns” standards, and support the writing of TOR- Conduct consultations with ministries, visit potential municipalities in order to check their eligibility to the Fair Trade Towns standards, coordinate logistics for meetings, training sessions for municipality staff and Mouvement Social volunteers, awareness courses in school, local events, and local communication campaigns on fair trade- Supervise the setting up of a “fair trade committee” in each rewarded municipality and provide technical support to achieve the standards and improve their management and practices for developing fair trade- Aware the grocers, restaurants, hotels in each village on fair trade and local products, network producers and farmers to local distributors and support the participation of local producers in local or regional fairs- Provide timely reports to the direct supervisor- Perform any other tasks requested by the direct supervisor- Field Officers are expected to spend 80% of their time on the field and 20% in office
