The Lebanon Humanitarian INGO Forum (LHIF) is an independent coordinating body currently composed of 21 international humanitarian non-governmental organizations operating in Lebanon. LHIF was formed in October 2012 in order to provide a platform for member INGOs to facilitate their humanitarian work and efficiently and effectively address key issues of common interest.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The LHIF Officer will provide technical and logistical support to LHIF communications and information management initiatives, helping to improve information sharing among LHIF members and improve public information about LHIF initiatives and activities. The LHIF Officer will also serve as the focal point for furthering LHIF engagement with the national humanitarian NGO community in Lebanon.
COMMUNICATIONS & INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
Facilitate the development of LHIF communication and information management plans, together with the LHIF members and LHIF Coordinator
Develop and maintain up-to-date communication and public information tools for presentation of LHIF to external stakeholders (e.g., website, briefing materials, one-pager)
Develop and maintain an up-to-date mapping of member activities (starting with defining and recording data elements that LHIF members need/want to share with respect to sectors, geographic areas, partners, donors, research, target groups, admin info, etc.)
Develop systems and tools to improve data-sharing and communication among LHIF members
Facilitate improved information sharing and exchange by ensuring that relevant reports, announcements, developments, etc. are circulated to all LHIF members
Organize and facilitate LHIF sub-committee meetings and initiatives related to improving information sharing and management within the humanitarian response (e.g., inter-agency multi-sector needs assessment, joint monitoring, etc.)
Track and highlight information from Arabic and English media sources relevant to the humanitarian response in Lebanon, and priority LHIF issues in particular
Serve as LHIF liaison to the Information Management Working Group, attending and reporting back on meetings
Develop and maintain a mapping of national NGO networks and coordination structures in Lebanon, as well as key national NGOs within the humanitarian response
Support development of a strategy for engagement and coordination with the national NGO community, together with the LHIF members and LHIF Coordinator

SECRETARIAT
Maintain an up-to-date Contact List of all LHIF member representatives, alternates, and issue focal points
Support planning and coordination of LHIF-sponsored trainings, workshops, and other events as required
Organize and facilitate LHIF meetings as requested
Attend and report back on other relevant sector-working group meetings as assigned
Record and disseminate detailed notes/minutes of all meetings attended
University degree in communications, information management, international relations or a related field, or a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience
3-5 years of experience in humanitarian and/or development work, preferably with communications or information management responsibilities (I/NGO experience a plus)
Proven knowledge and skills with respect to information management systems (data collection and analysis methods, GIS, data management tools, etc.)
Competent in Microsoft Office and an interest in the potential of new and social media; basic website content management and HTML knowledge highly desirable
Excellent understanding of the Lebanon context
Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic required, French is desirable
Ability to work productively both independently and within a team, detail-oriented, energetic, and flexible
Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values
