Company Name: Insan Association   Job Title: Research Assistant                    Reporting To: Research and Advocacy Advisor (Samantha Hutt)                                                                                                                                                 Location: Various including the north eastern suburbs of Beirut (Bouj Hammoud and surrounding suburbs) and Insan Association office in Ashrafieh.   Position Description:   To assist in the preparation of a research project aimed to explore the relationship between a families’ residency status (Lebanese citizen, documented / regular migrant or undocumented / irregular migrant) and the incidence and type of child abuse neglect with in the North Easter suburbs of Beirut. We will be interviewing 150 families from each sub population.   The project will address the need to increase Insan’s expertise on child protection with the provision of updated and detailed information on areas of concern for children of the north-eastern communities, the factors of risks, the legal framework (Lebanese laws and international conventions), the services provided by other child care givers and if a child at risk is identified through the research, provide child protection services (first component of the project). Such information is currently lacking and a comprehensive research will be conducted in order to fill this gap. It will then be used to better deliver technical guidance and direction to Insan staff and community leaders (second component of the project).   Key Duties: To undertake interviews with research participants where required. To enter data gathered into SPSS.   Recognition and Compensation:   Work hours, Compensation & Recognition: The Research Officer position is a casual role over a six week period and requires skills demonstrated by an experienced or semi-qualified research officer. This includes the ability to demonstrate initiative and attention to detail. The Research Officer will receive a salary of $5USD per interview completed. It is anticipated that each interview will take approximately 30 minutes each. Insan Association strongly values the commitment and dedication of its casual employees.
