Driver ( Beirut )

ROLE PURPOSE:   Transport persons and goods and ensure that the SCI or rental vehicle is in a roadworthy condition.   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:   1. SAFE TRANSPORT OF PERSONS AND GOODS Safely transport SCI employees or freight Responsible for safe and respectful control of the vehicle Responsible for the safe loading of the vehicle Respect the manufacturer’s technical conditions of use for the vehicle (e.g. load weight) Ensure that all passengers follow the security procedures and rules (e.g. seatbelts) Respect the local traffic regulations and rules.                                                                           Respect Save the Children’s Fleet Policy, Driver Rules, Code of Conduct and Child Safeguarding Policies. Report any accidents immediately to the Logistics team and the nearest police station for the purpose of insurance claims. Record details of all journeys.   2. MAINTENANCE AND CHECK LIST OF VEHICLES                                                            Report technical problems and breakdowns to the Logistics Department. In case of emergency and if authorised to do so, repair minor technical problems. Be aware of when the vehicle needs servicing and advise the relevant Logistics Officer. Perform the daily vehicle pre-departure checklist as detailed in the logbook and confirm that all required items are present. If necessary, prepare additional materials according to the mission needs (additional fuel tank, stickers, flag, tools, medical and food kits, etc.) Assume responsibility for keeping the interior and exterior of the vehicle clean at all times. Report all relevant information (servicing and repairs) in the logbook and fuel logbook.   3. MISCELLANOUS DUTIES If requested and appropriate, assisting other Save the Children staff in their work in the field i.e. at distributions.   4. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS Report all technical problems,      breakdowns and service requirements to the Logistics team. Report all accidents to the      Logistics team and local police station. Complete the log book for every      journey. Pass on relevant information to      Save the Children Security Focal Points and Security Manager. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Essential Previous experience as a driver Hold a valid licence for the      country, or an International Licence. Good eyesight and physical      condition Being prepared to work in tensed      situation and under pressure, with multicultural staff and contacts English speaking   Desirable Mechanic or fleet management experience Experience of working with and NGO
