Micro Labor Market Studies - Beirut

The Consultant will be asked to provide 1 Micro labor market study. The study will focus on work opportunities for unskilled Syrian refugees and/or Lebanese youths or those with a lack of professional skills. The methodology of the Micro Labor Market Study will have two components: 1. Compilation of existing material: - Data from Lebanese institutions such as National Employment Office and Central Administration of Statistics[1], VET institutes and NGOs[2] - Data from international organizations[3] including, for instance, ILO and UNRWA. 2. Collection of quantitative and qualitative data. These data will be gathered through focus groups, interviews and surveys of employers and stakeholders including the chamber of commerce, NGOs, VET institutes and employment centers. This process will also involve youths as they will be consulted using the same methodology.    Deliverables The consultant will have 1 month and a half to complete all the tasks outlined in section 3 above. The assignment includes both office and fieldwork. The consultant will be working closely with the Program and the Livelihood Coordinators for all technical-related tasks (i.e. tools’ development, Focus Groups Discussions and interviews’ questions development, data analysis, etc.). He/she will also regularly communicate with the Livelihood Coordinator to coordinate all community related tasks (i.e. access to youths, contacting communities, planning for interviews, etc.) At the end of the assignment, the consultant is expected to deliver: A mapping of existing economic activities and employment preparation activities and employment preparation activities – young people in Beirut are currently engaged in. A mapping of the labor market opportunities available for young people in Beirut.
