General duties and responsibilities:
- Works directly with children in the INTERSOS Centre (SDC and CC), carrying out recreational, non-formal education and awareness sessions activities with them, involving parents and community members when appropriate.
- Ensures that child protection principles are understood, enacted, maintained and enforced in the INTERSOS Centers.
- Is the visible link between the INTERSOS Centre and the community.
- Informs supervisors about any difficulty met in INTERSOS activities implementation.
- Acts in the best interests of the child.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Child Friendly Spaces:
- Assists, plans, organizes and participates in activities with the children.
- Maintain the daily attendance register and monthly inventory sheet.
- Ensures children under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities. Follows security rules. In case of high and imminent danger, informs immediately the competent authorities or security representatives from the village.
- Work with children and for children. During all the time with the children:
a. welcome them
b. listen to them
c. play with them
d. guide them
e. work hard to make them feel comfortable and happy
- Plan and manages activities that are:
a. various
b. safe
c. adapted to the age of the children
d. adapted to the physical and mental capacities of the children
e. adapted to the needs of the children
f. adapted to the number of children attending the centre
- Facilitates and encourages the participation of all children, notably the most vulnerable ones, ensuring proper attention is paid to their specific emotional and physical needs / difficulties.
- Be available for eventual training provided by INTERSOS.
- Ensure that the provided centre material is accounted for and secured at the end of each day.
Case Management:
1. Contributes to the identification of project targeted children and reports identified cases to INTERSOS officers for support or referral to child protection resources.
2. Accomplishes other assignments given by supervisors or other professionals intervening in the center (e.g. trainers).
Administration:
- Ensure that a monthly expenditure sheet is prepared and delivered to INTERSOS of each month.
Reporting:
- Provide in respect of the following timeline, the program activities (weekly report of daily activities), monitoring tool (weekly filled), family visit and questionnaire (bi-weekly).
- Collect from other social worker information about vulnerable cases.
- Coordinate and write the weekly evaluation report.
Meeting:
- Be available for participates in meeting in the centre or in INTERSOS Office.
- Meets with other program staff as required.
Any change to the proposed activities should be discussed with the INTERSOS officers.
A high degree of flexibility on the part of all staff is expected in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation. This job description may change based on the situation in the field. He/she can be asked required to perform other related duties as identified by his supervisor.
