Solidar Switzerland has been operating in Lebanon since September 2012 implementing programs in Food Security, Non Food Item distribution and emergency response.
Solidar Switzerland is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Assistant (Shelter) to implement relief projects in Jezzine District and monitor activities in the field and report deviations directly to the Technical Officer.
Duration: 3 months renewable contract.

Background:
To respond to the winter, Solidar Suisse is implementing a weatherproofing shelter intervention mostly in Jezzine District and covering selected registered households in Saida.
Under the direct supervision of the Technical Officer, the Technical Assistant has to support the weatherproofing shelter program in private unfinished houses and converted garages. This role includes:, routine monitoring of shelter activities, conducting technical shelter assessments, support to and mobilization of refugee communities, ensuring proper implementation of infrastructure construction and providing technical support to vulnerable households. The Shelter Technical assistant will coordinate with respective local bodies and individuals to ensure maximum utilization of project resources and report issues to Technical officer on daily basis.
Tasks and responsibilities
Project Assessments
Conduct shelter assessments and collect data according to agreed methodology respecting tight deadlines.
Project Implementation
Provide orientation to field team and volunteers on shelter activities, standards and processes
Provide support to construction related works in the field; including identifying skills and encouraging self help approach within the refugee populations themselves
Ensure project documents are properly filed and kept secure at all times
Project Monitoring
Inspect on daily basis construction activities at each site to ensure adherence to agreed standards and processes and provide support where necessary
Assist in the delivery, distribution, handling and utilisation of all shelter materials in the field
Complete all monitoring weekly reports and ensure that shelter works meet minimum quality and standard requirements
Reporting
Prepare weekly progress reports to Technical Officer on construction progress, contract status and beneficiary participation levels
Prepare relevant field reports that will feed into internal reporting and donor reporting requirements
Logistic
Ensure good communication with logistic officer so that procurements are distributed to correct locations and on time.
Support the development of distribution plans for shelter kits
Skills, Qualifications, Experience and Attitude Required
Minimum of 2 years experience
Bachelor Degree in relevant field
Excellent knowledge in Arabic and Good English is essential
Previous experience in implementing Shelter projects with NGOs/INGOs an advantage
Experience in community based approaches to construction
Ability to foster team spirit
Ability to work under pressure and keep to tight deadlines
Strong organizational skills and able to coordinate and manage workload
Report writing skills and computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets
Willingness to travel to construction sites in Jezzine at all times
Commitment to ensuring the protection of refugees
Commitment to humanitarian principles and values
