Background: World Learning is the lead implementer for the D-RASATI II project in Lebanon.  D-RASATI II   supports education reform in Lebanon by training English teachers, developing school-based extra-curricular activities, providing schools with ICT equipment and training, and building the capacity school leadership development in order to enhance student achievement in public schools.  World Learning seeks an Education in Emergencies Specialist to lead the project’s response to assist communities hosting Syrian refugees in public schools. S/he will report to and work with the Deputy Chief of Party to support her/him in assigned duties and specifically those tasks that relate to designing and coordinating implementation of EiE response activities.   Education in Emergencies Specialist Primary responsibilities: Lead design and manage implementation of EiE activities in selected public schools Develop and implement a rapid needs assessment to identify training needs of public schools to meet the teaching, learning, and psycho-social needs of students, teachers, and principals in communities hosting Syrian refugees Design and develop for short-term, school based training curriculum on integrating conflict sensitive approaches into school improvement plans, school leadership strategies, community engagement efforts, and extracurricular activities Design and lead implementation of targeted training for key government stakeholders, school principals, teachers, and students Recruit and manage trainers to implement training and offer continuous coaching to principals and teachers Manage short-term consultant and trainer pool as well as related activities and deliverables In coordination with other team members, develop monitoring mechanisms to track progress on EiE activities and provide feedback for continuous improvement Develop an information and networking system to support principals and teachers with continuous training Develop a stipend management system for school improvement fund related to EiE activities, based on school level needs assessments Work in partnership with consortium member organizations to effectively integrate EiE best practices into project activities and deliverables Regular programmatic reporting on EiE activities Any other tasks as assigned   Required/Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Development Studies, Education, or related field  and 5 years of progressive experience designing and implementing education in emergencies programs strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree in related field and 10 years of progressive experience designing and implementing education in emergencies programs will be considered Proven experience working with education in emergencies preparedness, conflict mitigation and disaster risk reduction in conflict affected states, preferably in the Middle East Experience managing/coordinating school-based refugee and/or IDP education activities Demonstrated knowledge of Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies standards, conflict sensitive education, and best practices in teaching and learning in conflict settings Demonstrated capacity to manage large education program components, experience managing USAID-funded programs/program components preferred Experience working in Lebanon required, experience working in critical priority countries (CPC), or conflict affected states is desired. Fluency in English and Arabic.
