Purpose/objective of the position:
The Protection officer will be responsible to support INTERSOS management staff with technical advices and guidance for the design, plan, implementation and development of the protection monitoring, referral, ad hoc assistance and the protection mainstreaming in every project component.

Responsibilities/duties:
Provide guidance on selected protection concerns for facilitating one-on-one interviews and focus group discussions with refugees, host community members, state actors and service providers in the field.
Conduct spot observation in areas where refugees are housed or clustered for inclusion in protection monitoring.
Provide technical expertise for the design, organization and evaluation of need assessment and participatory monitoring and services mapping.
Provide supervision for the identification and mobilization of community volunteers and focal points.
Provide guidance for the design, content and approach of the Protection awareness sessions.
Provide guidance for the identification, referral or ad hoc assistance to vulnerable cases or people with special needs;
Ensure protection mainstreaming in any emergency response activated during the project, including WASH and Hygiene promotion.
Attend and report on Protection coordination meeting and protection relevant workshops at local level and/or central level as assigned.
Prepare regular reports detailing needed actions by all actors (INTERSOS, humanitarian, and government) to address protection concerns/gaps.
Skills/Competences:
A minimum Bachelor degree in social sciences, psychology or other related degrees or 5 years work experience in protection field for local and international NGOs;
At least 2 years’ experience in social work;
Good knowledge of UNHRC protection and vulnerabilities identification tools;
Familiarity with Child Protection and SGBV practices and procedures in emergency;
Proven experience of collaborating with a range of external organisations – CBOs, CSOs, international NGOs, private sector organisations / local government bodies;
Experience of implementing and developing systems and processes for participatory monitoring, reporting & evaluation, program reviews / assessments highly desirable;
Strong diplomatic, interpersonal and communications skills;
Strong command of English both oral and written is mandatory.
