Job Purpose Summary
In the framework of its response to the current situation which is affecting the Syrian population forcing them to flee their Country, NRC is setting up an Education program to respond to the needs of Syrian children displaced in Lebanon.
The Education Officer is expected to represent Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Lebanon in a responsible manner and always to act in accordance with the NRC Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in design and implementation of education assessments (i.e. teachers training needs, students’ participation, school management, parents/community involvement in education etc…).
Participate in design of training programs based on needs assessments.
Develop training modules, both in English and Arabic.
Participate in organization, facilitation and implementation of training modules/ training programs for education staff - teachers, administrative staff, supervisors, counselors etc…
Participate in development of communication tools (ex.: newsletters).
Constantly liaise with school authorities, students, parents and communities representatives.
Organize and facilitate workshops/ sensitization sessions on education and child protection (and other topics as needed) with students, parents, community members & leaders.
Provide facilitation, organizational and logistical support to NRC staff engaged in trainings related to education/protection/development issues.
Ensure that the projects implemented are realized in a timely manner and as per the objectives and planned activities.
Ensure an integrative programming approach with other NRC Lebanon Programs.
Participate in preparation and facilitation of training workshops for NRC staff on protection & development issues.
Provide timely reports to the supervisors.
Perform any other task as assigned by NRC managements.
Qualifications and Competences
Academic and Professional Qualifications
University degree in Education/ Development related field/ Psycho-social studies or Sociology.
Specific programs in Education, Psychology or Social Work are an advantage.
Relevant Experience
Qualified and experienced teacher/ master trainer/counselor/social worker.
Knowledge & relevant experience in child protection issues.
Experience in designing & facilitating training programs
Experience in participatory programs.
Experience in community sensitization/ mobilization.
Ability to work under pressure
Strong documentation, research and report writing skills.
Background in curriculum and syllabus design.
Willingness to travel to multiple field sites.
