Assessment Assistant (Zahle)

Save the Children has been operating in Lebanon since 1999 and is recognized for its commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration.  Save the Children currently implements programs in Child Protection, Education, CRC, Health and Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihood, Shelter, and Emergency Response throughout Lebanon.   Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa:   ROLE PURPOSE: (this role is dependent on funding) Since the outbreak of violence in Syria in the spring of 2011, the number of Syrians crossing to Lebanon continues to increase. Save the Children is likely to open a new operational area covering two districts in Mount Lebanon, Keserwan and Jbeil. The Assessment Assistant will work as part of a team that will carry out assessments of Syrian refugees to determine their eligibility to receive assistance   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:   -          Support the Assessment Officer to plan assessments according to new arrival trends and beneficiary targeting criteria. -          Conduct household interviews to collect information -          Act as a liaison between communities and Save the Children -          Maintain good relationships with beneficiaries and Save the Children and report any identified issues to the Base Coordinator -          Provide information on available services and UNHCR registration as appropriate -          Refer any Persons of Concern (PoC) to Assessment Officer for interagency referral -          Contribute to data entry as needed.   Due to the nature of the post, it is important that the applicant has good interpersonal skills and is able to communicate with refugees in a respectful way.   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Required High level of written and spoken English Previous experience of carrying out field assessments or research Good contextual knowledge of local issues, refugee situation and social and cultural considerations Good geographical knowledge of local area Previous experience collecting data on paper forms Previous experience collecting data on tablets Good interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively; High level of integrity and sense of confidentiality; Commitment to SCI’s goals and aims.   Desirable Previous experience in managing data collected through Android device Previous experience working with NGO APPLICATION PROCESS   Please note that the closing date for applications is: For External applicants on October 6th  .                   The selection committee will review all applications as they are received.
