Projects Support Officer

  I. Summary Reporting to the Senior Relief Coordinator, Syria (SRC, Syria) based in Beirut, the Projects Support Officer (PSO) will provide support in the development of proposals, reports and data for relief programs inside Syria and to a lesser extent Lebanon, and Jordan.      II. General Responsibilities Under the direction and guidance of the Senior Relief Coordinator, Syria (SRC, Syria): a)      Support the activities of the Relief Coordinators (RCs) by assisting in the development of proposals, reports and data regarding activities related to relief operations. b)      Assist in the research and writing of proposals and reports associated with relief efforts. c)      Support the strategic planning process and the development of annual operating plans d)     Engage in research and collect data on IDP, refugees and crisis affected populations in order to identify emerging needs. e)      Ensure that data collection and needs assessments are conducted in a reliable manner. f)       Develop and maintain a tool that identifies when project and financial reports are required by the donor and IOCC.  Provide sufficient advance notice of the requirements to the responsible parties. g)      Participate in project site visits as required to monitor activities and to understand programs more fully. h)      Perform other duties as directed by the SRC, Syria or the Regional Relief Coordinator-Team Leader..    III.             Qualifications/Experienc   Lebanese or Syrian nationality preferred  in order to enable ready access into Syria Excellent writing and verbal skills in English are essential. Good writing and verbal skills in Arabic, and ability to translate from  Arabic to English and English to Arabic  is required Relevant studies in International Development or related field an asset Strong computer skills including Excel and Power Point Previous exposure to a research environment in the humanitarian context would be beneficial Demonstrated analytical and  organizational skills Ability to work to tight deadlines Team Player IV.             Contacts/Key Relationships IOCC Regional Director for the Middle East Regional Relief Operations-Team Leader Relief Coordinators  IOCC Country Directors Program Managers   V.
