ROLE PURPOSE:
The Logistics Coordinator (Beirut) is responsible for managing SCI Lebanon’s Capital Logistics Team in Beirut. The role is to capacity build, develop, oversee and assist the Beirut logistics team, as well as providing technical expertise in Logistics for all Beirut based staff. They will also support the Logistics Manager in looking at potential expansion of our programming, and pre-positioning and contingency planning, and deputise for the Logistics Manager during their absence.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Deputy for Logistics Manager during absence
Procurement – manages tender processes, and responsible for follow-up of procurement plans
Capacity building of logistics team – inducting new staff, training on SCI Logistics Policies, procedures and systems
Capacity building of programme teams – conducts trainings to ensure that programme teams understand and abide by logistics procedures, and that technical advisors understand lead time issues.
Grant interface – maintaining an overview of all current grants’ logistics information
Reporting – compiling reports from the Beirut logistics team and the field
Systems, procedures & efficiency – ensures that SCI Logistics systems are being followed properly, and performs an internal audit function of logistics documentation. Also ensures that the systems in place are as efficient as possible (ensuring SCI gets value for money, and is at maximum operationally effectiveness) and makes recommendations on improvements to be made
Surge capacity – on stand by for further rapid expansion of activities
Contingency planning & strategy – work with Logistics Manager to define strategy, contingency planning for SCI operational areas, and strategic expansion
Feedback to Logistics Manager and Field Managers recommendations for improvements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
At least 3 years of experience in logistics;
At least 2 years of experience in logistics with an International NGO
Experience in supply chain management including procurement, transport and distribution, warehouse and stock management.
Strong capacity building skills;
Patience, thoroughness, rigour.
Excellent IT skills.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Proactive and result-oriented.
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children aims, values and principles.
Desirable
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic
Previous Save the Children logistics experience
