Assessment Assistant - Zahle

Role and Responsibilities Working as an important member of a diverse team, the employee will be responsible 1) Assist the team leader in assessments of Informal Tented Settlements (ITS) 2) Ensure accuracy of assessments and provide leadership to those in your team. Project Overview The conflict in Syria has erupted into a full-scale civil war endangering lives in almost every community in the country. Desperate families, caught in the crossfire, are leaving everything behind and fleeing into neighbouring countries. Lebanon, one of these countries, has received a large influx of refugees from Syria. In response to the Syrian Crisis and the resulting influx of refugees into Lebanon, Medair is assessing and distributing shelter kits and Non Food Items (NFI) within ITS. Shelter and NFI are a large part of the Medair Lebanon’s programming which also includes site planning and GIS mapping.  Medair Medair brings life-saving relief and rehabilitation in disasters, conflict areas, and other crises by working alongside the most vulnerable. Founded in 1989, Medair’s unwavering commitment continues to bring hope to the world’s most vulnerable.  Key Activity Areas Assist the team leader in assessments of ITS travel with the assessment team to ITS, on conclusion of assessment assist the team leader in organizing the necessary paper work. Ensure accuracy of assessments and provide leadership to those in your team take lead of a group of 2-3 assessment collectors, ensure clear communication to beneficiaries. Qualifications Qualification in data collection or leadership role preferred Languages Strong working knowledge of Arabic and English (spoken and written) Experience / Competencies  Previous NGO experience preferred Attention to detail required  Fast learner, well organized and effecient decision maker Good working knowledge of geography and culture of the Bekaa Valley region  Problem Solving skills and positive attitude Strong leadership skills & clear communicator  Passionate about working as part of a dynamic and encouraging team Passionate about serving the poor Willing to support others and share workloads Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels
