Job Purpose Summary
To lead the T-shelter construction process to ensure that the contracted supplier delivers and installs t-shelters in line with contractual agreements and agreed standards. To coordinate shelter occupancy with NRC social team informing them of timelines for shelter completion and of any delays.
Key Responsibilities
Technical activities
Assist in technical assessments of site suitability, with particular attention to flood risk.
Ensure than shelters are erected in line with the UNHCR site plan and given standards in terms of fire and road safety.
Ensure a logical and consistent numbering system is in place and maintained.
Report flood risk to shelters to PC and suggest technical solutions for mitigation.
Input into technical discussion on how the project design could be adapted (eg. For cost effectiveness).
Provide technical assistance to any other NRC staff as required and for the purposes of training and/or writing project proposals.
Supervision activities
To ensure and promote efficient and cost-effective use of NRC’s assets and resources in order to maximize funding to beneficiaries.
Oversee the hiring of laborers, ensure their hiring is equitable and transparent and that their workhours are properly recorded and compensated.
Coordination activities
Coordinate with the Social Team to ensure that the number of shelters erected is in line with refugee arrival rates.
Coordinate with UNHCR regarding the site plan and update it with occupied plots.
Reporting activities
To organize and manage the file folders and make sure that all necessary documents are in place.
To act as database focal point. He/she is responsible of putting all beneficiaries lists (Hardcopies and Softcopies) are in place and fully filled.
To submit to the FC daily and weekly reports on the activities and action points.
Provide regular reports relating to analysis of assessment findings, as well as progress and situation reports
Supervisees:
The TFO supervise the work of the TFAs when needed.
Qualifications and Competences
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Ordinary National Diploma / Technical in relevant field
Relevant Experience
Minimum 3 years of proven field experience in relevant discipline.
Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and team working skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
Ability to work under pressure and stress
Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions
Able to establish and maintain a good professional working relationship with suppliers, contractors and inspection companies.
Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
Very Good English Language level
Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus
