Protection Assistant (Detention Unit) - G4 - Hrs020 (Unhcr Contract)

-         Visit detention facilities. -         Conduct basic interviews with asylum seekers and refugees in detention. -         Counsel asylum-seekers and refugees in detention on UNHCR’s procedures, assessments and decisions. -         Ensure that asylum-seekers and refugees understand the procedures that they will go through and the reasons behind the decisions. -         Listens well and are able to provide sound counseling to asylum-seekers and refugees. -         Register and determine the status of refugees in detention according to the international standards. -         Liaise closely with prison, immigration and law-enforcement officials. -         Ensure fair treatment of asylum-seekers and refugees in detention. -         Keep track of detained refugees and asylum-seekers status records by regularly updating databases and templates. -         Provide input to protection reports and other reports as required. -         Any other function requested by the supervisor. -         As a member of the protection team and UNHCR Branch Office Beirut, contributing to enhance the protection space for persons of concern to UNHCR in Lebanon.
