Research Consultant

Scope of work: The consultant will work within the frame of Handicap International project in Lebanon entitled: “Strengthening the role of the disability movement in promoting the rights of marginalized Persons with disabilities in Lebanon”   The “Strengthening the role of the disability movement in promoting the rights of marginalized Persons with disabilities in Lebanon” project is a Handicap International project, funded by the European Union and the Agence Française de Developpement. The project is implemented in partnership with the Lebanese Physical Handicapped Union (LPHU), the Lebanese Association for Self Advocacy-LASA and the Youth Association of the Blind (YAB).  within the framwork of the project a data collection process will occurs across all of Lebanon, and will pay particular attention to the priorities of PwDs from the most marginalized groups. Following the data collection, the external consultant with the support of LPHU expert, will analyze the findings, selecting data to be produced in a report to be disseminated within the disability movement and to be used in the project’s upcoming local and national advocacy initiatives, and in the subsequent drafting of the UPR and shadow reports.    The data collection activities: - The data collection should focus only on the data collected from the field  - The consultant will be in charge of designing the report and collection desk data - The data collection on good practices will focus on rights and access to rights, without any specific themes. - Data collection activities will be supervised by HI project manager and in coordination with the field officers. - The consultant in charge of analyzing data collected and developing the report    Following will be the main responsibilities requested from the consultant: - Coordinate with LPHU expert to ensure the collection of data needed. (Monitoring and follow-up) - Compiling data collected and documentation to be used in the local and national advocacy initiatives - Analyze data collected - Production of a report on data collection results to be disseminating within the disability movement in Lebanon through the local and national advocacy initiatives.(Approx 40 pages Arabic and English)   Reporting:  The consultant is required to analyse and produce a report Production of a report on data collecting for dissemination within the disability movement for use into advocacy at national level by the end of November 2013.   Relation and limits of responsibilities:  The consultant will work in collaboration with the DPOs project technical advisor and under the supervision of the project manager.   Main internal interfaces:   Project Manager Technical advisor Technical Unit (at regional or HQ level)   Main external interfaces:   Partners field officers
