The country director is responsible for managing and supervising all activities in the country. The country director serves as the representative of the organization in Lebanon. She/He ensures that all operations of the organization such as the staff, finances and other resources work are conducted efficiently and effectively. The country director also works on developing new projects for the coming year and explores the possibilities of new donors. She/He reports back to the superiors in the Head quarter office and may be required to prepare mid-year and end-year reports on progress made.
Responsibilities & Duties:
•Ensures program interventions contribute directly to the established Performance Management Plan and annual work plans and are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all IRD policies and procedures.
•Builds capacity of staff through coaching, formal and informal training, and performance management.
•Manages security and safety of the team and field office/s supported by necessary systems and training.
•Ensures proper internal controls are established and maintained in accordance with IRD policies and procedures and relevant USAID rules and regulations.
•Displays cultural sensitivity in developing internal and external relationships and networks.
•Reports back to the superiors and may be required to prepare mid-year and end-year reports on progress made.
•Assists in the screening and hiring of new staff
•Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
•8+ years managing USAID/EU funded programs, media programming, vocational training, civil society and local government capacity building.
•She/he should have computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. She/He should have critical skills to analyze and interpret data and have basic budget preparation skills.
Desirable Qualities
The country director should have good diplomatic and interpersonal skills. She/He should have good communication skills, written and oral and should be able to coordinate teams and be a self-starter. She/He should have good leadership and administration skills, should network and maintain a good working relationship with all stakeholders. She/He should have good judgment and decision-making skills.
