Distribution Officer - Akkar

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006.  DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon and the Bekaa, since May 2011. Assistance is provided through the distribution of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Distribution Officer - Akkar, to support its activities under the project “Emergency Response for Displaced Syrians in the North” in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).   Responsibilities:   Main Tasks: Set up a distribution mechanism for food items (FIs) and non-food items (NFIs) Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the distribution process on a monthly basis, in coordination with other stakeholders involved in the distribution Follow up with the Logistics Assistant on the management of the warehouse Set up emergency preparedness strategies corresponding to the distribution of FIs and NFIs Provide the distribution staff with appropriate tools and techniques for the distribution of FIs and NFIs    Ensure the complementarity of the various stakeholders’ actions in the distribution of FIs and NFIs   Act as a focal point for inquiries about the FI and NFI distribution process   Fulfill all the demands pertaining to the FI and NFI distribution process   Archive all the documents relevant to the distribution process Work closely with DRC and UNHCR staff on the implementation of various activities as required   Reporting: Report back verbally as often as needed to the Project Manager on the progress of the work. Write an evaluation report on the distribution process (achievements, challenges, recommendations etc…) Provide relevant input for the monthly reports   Monitoring & Evaluation: Ensure/facilitate the qualitative and quantitative monitoring and evaluation of all the activities in line with the job description of the Field Officer    Other: Fulfill any other duties requested and/or needed by the Project Manager, Programme Manager or the Country Director.     Qualifications & Experience: University degree, preferably related to social work Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience NGO experience Experience in emergency work is a plus Excellent interpersonal skills   Required Skills: Ability to lead groups Good communication skills Commitment to the values, vision and mission of DRC Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) Self-motivation and strong team spirit Well-developed organizational and planning skills Ability to speak, read and write well in Arabic and English Duration: Until Dec 31 - 2013 renewable (depending on performance and funding)    Starting date: As soon as possible   Conditions: DRC offers a competitive local salary and benefits package.
