Lebanon Ingo Safety & Security Forum (Lissf) Area Risk Advisor / North

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011, and the Bekaa valley since February 2012. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities and rehabilitation of collective shelters. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Lebanon INGO Safety & Security Forum (LISSF) Area Risk Advisor / North, to support its activities under the project "Emergency Response for Displaced Syrians in Lebanon". Job Description LISSF is an initiative of to establish an organization that provides critical environmental analysis to members and clients, so that they can make informed policy and operational decisions. LISSF intends to achieve this through establishing an interactive platform that provides analysis on Lebanon and it’s regional environment as it relates to LISSF member activities. LISSF and its products are Predictive, Enabling and Innovative. LISSF is formed from International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs), International Organizations (IO, Development and Humanitarian) and Civil Society Organizations in Lebanon. The LISSF is hosted and chaired by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).   The ARA provides LISSF members and clients with credible information and contextual analysis of the local and regional situation. The RSA will liaise closely with NGOs, the UN, the military, and other national and international security agencies to obtain security information. The ARA will be responsible for writing comprehensive weekly reports on the provincial and regional security situation as it relates to LISSF members and clients as well as for producing daily incident reports, threat warnings and facilitating weekly  meetings in his/her region of responsibility. The ARA will also play a less frequent role in assisting members to develop their own risk management capacities.   The ARA will also be responsible for the management of the regional LISSF office. This includes oversight of local logistics and administration. The ARA may be deployed alone to any one of the three regional offices (Akkar & North, Beqaa and South). Required: - Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Political, Law, Economics, Business or related field - Demonstrable experience in report writing and analysis (sample will be requested) - Min. 3 years of practical experience  in a relevant organizational setting - Familiarity with the philosophy, priorities and principals of INGOs, humanitarian principles and development - Excellent social, analytical and diplomacy skills - A strong verbal and written communicator in English & Arabic languages, French highly desirable - A great sense of humor is critical.   Preferred: - Experience in INGO or IO management - Sound understanding of risk management principles - Ability to develop and maintain culturally and socially diverse relationships and contacts - Previous experience in management and coordination - Experience of staff capacity development, training and knowledge transfer   IMPORTANT NOTE: LISSF is not a Private Security Company and will not consider the following applicants (A) Applicants with experience only in physical security , weapons and tactics (B) Applicants with only military or police work experience
