Store Keeper/warehouse Assistant

Overall Purpose Working as an important member of a diverse team who are committed to serve the world’s most vulnerable with practical and compassionate care the Logistics Assistant supports many of the logistics activities of the programme. On a day-to-day basis the Store Keeper carries out a variety of functions required to ensure the warehouse needs of the programme are met and that all warehouse activities are delivered efficiently, accurately and on-time. All activities are carried out in line with Medair policies and procedures and according to any applicable donor, HQ or field guidelines.   Project Overview Conflict in Syria has erupted into a full-scale civil war endangering lives in almost every community in the country. Desperate families, caught in the crossfire, are leaving everything behind and fleeing into neighbouring countries. Lebanon, one of these countries, has received a large influx of refugees from Syria. To assist the arriving Syrian refugees, Medair’s team in Lebanon intends to implement an emergency shelter project with mapping activities in the Bekaa Valley. Through the shelter activities, refugee families will be provided with essential items and assisted with improving tented shelters and poor housing conditions. In addition, Medair plans to complement these Shelter activities with critical NFI distributions and a WASH component, distributing such things as water filters and hygiene kits. These projects are very logistics intensive and procuring, warehousing, stocking and proper procedures are vital to their success.  Key Activities Control the IN / OUT of goods, Updating the stock record: Receive request form distribution and issue goods Deal with the return from distribution Reception of goods from the support base Update daily the stock record Daily physical check, check if any damaged and report to supervisor Supervise workers to pack properly Assist restacking or repacking Ensure cleaning the warehouse (Dust, clear corridors….) File the request from distribution / stock record / waybill in a folder Preform local purchases and quotation bids when required Responsibilities Accountability for receiving and distribution of commodities stored in the warehouse Inventories and accurate monthly stock reports Data entry of inventory and stock issues and receipts on a daily basis Supervision of casual labourers as required Cleanliness and organization of warehouse and commodities Monitoring all the down loading and uploading processes Sweeping, trapping and ridding of rodents and other pests Skills and Qualifications Minimum of secondary school certificate, experience in inventory/stock keeping will be an added advantage Fluent Arabic and good English skills (reading, writing and speaking) At least one years experience in warehouse/logistics position Proven management skills and experience in managing a team Strong leadership skills and a supportive/collaborative management style Adaptable to changing work environments, multi-cultural teams and strong interpersonal skills Computer skills especially with MS excel and Word skills Able to oversee multiple tasks while ensuring quality work is being accomplished Proactive with capacity to identify professional development needs in staff and procedures Solid knowledge and understanding of practical logistics procedures Must be fit and strong – able to lift up to 30 kilograms at least 1.5m off the ground repeatedly. Accurate with numbers Honest and reliable Must be prepared to work extended hours when necessary Willingness to clean and sweep warehouses Advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills
