Position Summary:
The driver will be responsible for providing safe and secure transportation for RI's health and nutrition program in Lebanon, focusing on Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with projects as requested by supervisor.
Transport RI employees and other designated persons and supplies to and from various locations throughout the country. Drivers must adhere to posted speed limits, never to exceed 80 Km /Hour (50Miles/Hour).
Drivers should inspect the vehicles each time before driving and make sure that all vehicle documents are in order as required by Lebanon’s regulations and norms.
Ensure the assigned vehicle is in good working order through daily checks of: radiator water, battery acid and terminal integrity, transmission oil (in the case of vehicles, ensure the differentials are fully lubricated), fuel, air cleaner, brakes, all turn signals, all lights, power steering fluid (if applicable), communication equipment, and other pertinent vehicle functions.
Clean the inside and wash the outside of assigned vehicle daily.
Ensure that the tank of vehicle is full each day before the beginning of the working day (overnight the tank must be full in case of night time emergency) and prior to reporting to duty.
Take care of all safety measures, including seatbelts, spare tire, manual jack, and other tools for replacing tires when needed.
Inform supervisor immediately when vehicle requires service (repairs or regular maintenance), when problems arise concerning vehicle operations, and all other instances of vehicle malfunction, or as indicated on service log.
No alcohol consumption during work hours.
Driver must practice safe and defensive driving at all times.
Follow security protocols for displaying the RI logo and flag while driving during working hours.
Maintain a daily mileage sheet noting fuel expenditure and work mileage.
No smoking is allowed in RI vehicles.
No guns or ammunition are allowed to be transported at any time during or after work hours.
Using of mobile phone not allowed during driving.
Perform numerous tasks assisting the logistics, administrative, procurement, and financial offices. Examples of tasks include, but are not limited to photocopying, purchasing material and goods, moving equipment and items, etc.
Any other duties as assigned by the RI Country Office Management.
It will be the driver’s sole responsibility to pay any fine or punishments imposed by traffic police of government for violation of traffic rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS &REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent driving skills, minimum 3 years of driving skills experience with a clean driving record, secondary school education, and valid driving license.
Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in the handling of all types of officials including police and military personnel.
Sense of humor and patience are essential.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
