Internship opportunities with LIVCD - Announcement:Background: The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development - LIVCD is a five year program funded by the United States Agency for International Development- USAID, and implemented under the leadership of Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI). Its overall objective is to improve Lebanon’s economic stability and food security, especially in rural areas, and decrease rural migration.LIVCD Project aims to increase the competitiveness of several value chains, and at expanding the number of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises that can compete in selected markets, improve linkages between those firms and other actors throughout the value chains, increase the gross value of products and services in local and export markets, and expand exports.The project will intervene in several sectors, in particular Floriculture, Grapes, Olive Oil, Apple, Pears, Processed Foods, Honey, Rural Tourism, Cherries and Avocados. Interns reports to Technical team members.Majors and education: All majors from universities, in particular: Agriculture engineering, Economics, Business and Administration, Nutrition, Food safety, Marketing, Communications, Supply chain Management, Logistics, Statistics, Public Health, Health Promotion, Development Sciences, Tourism management.Scope of Work: Support the technical team in several assignments to be defined with the internship supervisor depending on the team’s needs, such as:- Collect data for monitoring and evaluation of several ongoing projects- Accompany team members to field visits to various potential partners and prepare meeting notes- Support the team with market research on several products, by conducting market surveys, data analysis, and focus groups.- Support in organizing discussion workshops or training sessions for stakeholders around several themes- Assist in developing business plans for Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises and feasibility studies for various projects.- Assist in writing proposals for various development organizations and NGOs, as well as facilitate their access to finance.Duration: Three to six months full time/part-timeRecommendation: Upon completion of the internship, the intern will receive an evaluation and a letter of recommendation.Applicants must be Lebanese citizens and should be fluent in Arabic and English.Indemnities: TBDContact: Applications including a CV and a short paragraph describing you in no more than 50 words should be sent to lebanonvaluechains@dai.com mentioning ‘Internship application’ in the subject line.
