Job Summary
To safely drive and ensure proper maintenance of Concern vehicles as per Concern Transport Regulations. This includes ensuring vehicle is only used for official trips; maintaining vehicle log books; ensuring regular vehicle servicing is carried out; liaising with relevant vehicle hire company; reporting of any fault or accident involving the vehicle; supervising any vehicle repairs; keeping vehicle clean and tidy; and ensuring all passengers and cargo are carried safely.
Duties and Responsibilities
To safely drive Concern’s rented vehicles for official trips following official procedures.
To drive defensively and according to all Lebanese traffic laws and regulations
To make vehicle available as required for field trips or within city area and be responsible for presenting log sheet for the user to record official journey.
To report any technical fault in the vehicle, supervise the repairs/maintenance work as required.
Immediately report any accident or security incident/risk to supervisor
Complete accident and incident reports accurately and in a timely fashion
Sign and reconcile log books as required
To be responsible for the security of the vehicle on duty and to ensure no unauthorized person drives official vehicles.
To fasten seat belt in the vehicle and ensure passenger in the vehicle also fasten seat belts whilst driving.
Maintain records of any official purchases including accurate receipts
To clean the vehicle on regular basis
Ensure vehicle is serviced on time
Liaise with relevant vehicle hire company as appropriate
Other appropriate tasks that support the work of Concern in Lebanon as requested
To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.
Perform routine and timely check of vehicle roadworthiness as per following checklist, unless these are carried out by hire company:
change motor oil and oil filter
change fuel filter
check oil level in manual transmission, transfer and differential gear
check brake conditions including pads, discs and other brake components
check clean-air filter
check brake-, power steering- and clutch fluids
check fan belt
grease all greasing points
check condition of spare wheel and jack
check condition of vehicle fire Extinguisher
maintain First Aid Kit in vehicle
Skills, Qualifications, Experience and Attitude Required
Must have a valid driving license and clean driving record
Must have at least five years driving experience including experience of driving 4 wheel drive vehicles in difficult terrain.
Must be familiar with defensive driving techniques and project area
Literate in Arabic
Written and spoken English is highly desirable
Technical diploma in vehicle repair and maintenance is desirable.
Willing to work in the field as per need of the project activities including occasional overnight stays away from home base
