Project Overview
The conflict in Syria has erupted into a full-scale civil war endangering lives in almost every community in the country. Desperate families, caught in the crossfire, are leaving everything behind and fleeing into neighbouring countries. Lebanon, one of these countries, has received a large influx of refugees from Syria.
Standing water and rubbish has collected in many Syrian refugee communities in Lebanon which has increased risks of water cross-contamination and water-borne illnesses. Medair is responding to this problem with Site Planning for informal settlements. Medair helps communities to develop drainage and sanitation in several sites to improve the overall health and hygiene of refugees.
