ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children International is a 'dual mandate' organisation that seeks to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children, and create lasting change in children’s lives. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL) is a core function in all Save the Children International programmes globally, representing our commitment to accountability and transparency. As a member of the MEAL team, the Assessment Coordinator will ensure that needs and priorities of beneficiaries are accurately documented in a timely fashion, ensuring a strong basis for programme design, monitoring and evaluation, and finally, accountability to the children and families that Save the Children serves. The Assessment Coordinator will work closely with technical advisors as well as with programme staff in the four field offices
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Programme quality and implementation
Collaborate with technical advisors, field managers and other staff to identify priority themes and geographic areas for assessment; taking input from the same, develop research questions and design assessment methodologies to achieve programme objectives
Directly manage needs assessments conducted by Save the Children Lebanon
Ensure highest technical standards in assessments
Ensure the appropriate and safe participation of beneficiaries, including children, in assessments
Prepare high quality written reports, oral presentations and other products as necessary
Ensure timely progress of and appropriate human resources to assessments
As necessary, manage baseline and endline assessments as part of programme monitoring and evaluation
External Relationships
Act as a focal point for coordination with other agencies in all assessment related matters
Represent the results of assessments to the humanitarian community as necessary
Staff management
Recruit, when necessary, train and supervise the assessment teams
Line manage the assessment staff for the period of the assessment
Ensure compliance with Save the Children policies, especially the Child Safeguarding Policy
Support the capacity building of programme teams in needs assessment
Ensure a positive working environment
