Reporting to: Fleet Officer NGO PRESENTATION   Handicap International is an independent and impartial international aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our action and testimony are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights.   Handicap International is a not-for-profit organisation with no religious or political affiliation. It operates as a federation made up of a network of associations that provide it with human and financial resources, manage its projects and implement its actions and social mission.   Through its Emergency Response Department (ERD), created in 2006 after the merge with Atlas Logistique, the organization is committed to: Provide an adequate response to major natural disaster and conflict situations, anywhere in the world as much as possible within 72 hours; Provide assistance to vulnerable groups (refugees, IDPs, persons with injuries, elders, children, etc.) affected by a crisis and maximize the number of beneficiaries. Within vulnerable groups, target especially PwD and meet their specific needs; Constantly monitor chronic crises and/or conflicts to ensure preparedness for and rapid response to eventual emerging needs.   HI has been present in the Middle East since 1987 through its Development Department. HI started from early April 2012 a new project at the regional level aiming at the recognition and respect of the rights of PwD by the authorities and institutions, through the reinforcement of the Disabled People’s Organisations (DPO) and the disability movement at large. In Lebanon, in addition to the regional project, HI has been implemented a project aiming at improving the access to mental health rehabilitation services for the children with psychological distress living in the Palestinian camps.At last, in 2010, HI established the only humanitarian demining capacity in northern Lebanon (Batroun Region) Action Center (LMAC) in achieving its goal of making Lebanon mine impact free by 2020.      MISSION CONTEXT   Following the yearlong crisis in the Syrian Arab Republic, that has caused the displacement of civilians in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan, Handicap International is implementing projects in Lebanon and Jordan, aiming at mitigating the impact of the crisis on the Syrian refugees and the host communities. In Lebanon as well as in Jordan, Handicap International aims to improve the access to emergency rehabilitation cares for the Syrian refugees at hospital and community level and to improve the coverage of the specific needs of the most vulnerable people affected by the crisis at the community level. In Lebanon, the targeted areas are the northern Bekaa Valley and Tripoli, whereas in Jordan, the targeted area is the northern region closed to the boarder.   THE JOB   All tasks and decisions will be made in collaboration/cooperation with the Fleet Officer.   Main activities/responsibilities   Based in Zahle under direct supervision of the Fleet Officer you will be responsible for the vehicle assign to you, ensure a good and safe transport of HI staff and equipments and ensure the maintenance of the vehicle under your responsibility.     Transport people and equipment under good security conditions When transporting HI employees or goods, respect the country’s circulation rules and follow the logistician’s planning and instructions Ensure all staff and expatriate put their security belt. In case of an accident, immediately get in touch with the closest police station and duly inform the logistics department; Follow the instructions of the manufacturer and the HI rules when using the vehicle; Keep all personal documents as well as those of the vehicle with you and check that they are valid (driving licence, insurance paper, order mission, HI ID card, HI charter & Waiver of liability form…) Fill in the Log book every day according to HI procedures. Respect HI security rules        Ensure maintenance of the vehicle: Solve minor technical problems; Inform the logistics department of any major repairs to be carried out; Carry out daily checks before starting up the motor (oil level; water level ; pressure of the tires) Keep the car clean, wash it every morning or evening Note down fuel consumption in the record book in the morning and at the end of the day as well as any information concerning the maintenance of the vehicle; Ensure that the first aid kit is complete and on board Ensure the fuel tank is always half full. Inform the assistant logistician when service is necessary.        Prepare departures to the field (if needed): Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure so as to be on time; Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to needs (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medical kit). Ensure the good loading and unloading of the car and tight the goods in an appropriate way. Know the city plan, especially HI staff houses, INGOs offices, UN offices … and relevant partners’ offices Make sign a Waiver of Liability form letter for none HI staff.        Behaviour and reporting Wear on a daily basis HI visibility clothes (if needed, according to the visibility rules). Behave in a respectful way at check point and/or to police officer and/or to military keeping in mind that you are representing HI. Report to the Fleet Officer or Field coordinator any problem encountered on the road.    You may be asked to do other tasks by Admin/Logistics, in accordance with your abilities.   The Driver is not authorised to use Handicap international material/equipment for personal means. The Driver is not authorised to reveal political views during working hours   This job profile is subject to change in accordance with the evolution of the HI programmes.   Required skills Essential The candidate must be 23 years old or older The ability to integrate completely in the heart of a multi-disciplinary team. Be rigorous, honest, calm and polite Ability to work under pressure, in unstable contexts Arabic, speaking and writing English, speaking and writing French langage is a plus A valid driving permit
