Agriculture Innovation Specialist

CKGROUND The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD) is a five year program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented under the leadership of Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI).  LIVCD Project aims to increase the competitiveness of selected value chains, expand the number of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises that can compete in selected markets, improve linkages between those firms and other actors throughout the value chain, increase the gross value of products and services in local and export markets, and expand exports. Development Alternatives Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Agriculture Innovation Specialist on the USAID LIVCD Project for a period of 4.5 years. OBJECTIVES The Agriculture Innovation Specialist shall be responsible for providing critical analytical and knowledge support to the LIVCD program team by researching key sources of data and information on the state of agricultural innovation in Lebanon.  Responsibilities include undertaking detailed fact-finding and gathering of market intelligence on the Lebanese agricultural value chain development landscape - to include identification of ongoing innovation-related activities and associated organizations, mapping of local business and market conditions, assessment of the policy and regulatory environments, as well as analyses of current trends and challenges. The Agricultural Innovation Specialist shall also proactively identify promising opportunities for LIVCD support and conduct associated outreach to agricultural innovation stakeholders, in addition to contributing towards design and management of LIVCD grant funding and technical assistance support.
