Project Coordinator

Project Coordinator will be in charge of the project “Let’s all go to school initiative“ funded by UNICEF, which aims to empower school actors and mobilize surrounding school community to create a sustainable mechanisms for child right oriented recreational activities. Through a series of capacity building trainings, workshops and follow-up sessions, the project seeks to establish, activate and empower activity committees  and activity coordinators in 12 schools (Hermel 8, Akkar 4), with the needed skills to autonomously plan, manage and fundraise for school based extra- curricular activities. Moreover, the project seeks to support committees and coordinators in identify and mobilized a group of volunteers who will be trained to deliver extra-curricular activities for children, using a child-centred approach. Schools will implement a fundraising actions to attract funds allowing them to organize extra-curricular activities for 1000 Syrian and Lebanese boys and girls, while the project will provided them with a small fund and sports equipment. In addition, awareness sessions for parents on child friendly pedagogical methods will be organized to protect children from violence and neglect, allowing parents to better support their children and become more involved in school life. The project coordinator is responsible to manage and monitor the project, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed, project activities are being accomplished on time and to agreed quality standards, guaranteeing the realization of project goals. Overall Responsibilities: Coordinate and monitor project implementation and field team and manage all administrative and financial matters at the field level Mobilize school staff and community members to become actively involved in the school and project Organize a series of trainings for Committees, Coordinators and Volunteers  Organize awareness & capacity building sessions for parents (3 sessions per school) Provide technical support and guidance to committees and coordinators in the process of planning, managing and fundraising for extra-curricular activities Provide technical support to the committees, coordinators and volunteers in the implementation of extra-curricular activities for children Promote child rights and Protection Hold regular meetings with all the stakeholders involved in the project (school directors, local authority, community leaders local NGO’s, partners, etc.) and build close and constructive relationships with school staff and key stakeholders, ensuring their representation and continuous participation in the project. Monitor expenditures and track activity expenses, providing supporting documents, quotations and invoices in accordance with donor requirements. Ensure proper financial and administrative reporting according to the costs of the developed activities to the Program Coordinator and the Administrative and Financial Coordinator on a monthly basis. Keeping accurate recording and archiving of all activities, including financial records, data, pictures, attendance sheets, activity reports, correspondence, etc... Record progress and submit timely (weekly and monthly) reports, implementation records, activity reports, minutes of meetings, financial spending, etc... Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and final progress reports (financial and operational). Identify shortfalls and obstacles in the implementation of planned activities that would require immediate action and propose relevant recommendations and corrective measures.

 A bachelor in development studies, social studies, project management, education or any other related field.
 Experience in project and budget management preferable with NGO background.
 Experience in community mobilization in a deprived context.
 Good knowledge of the area/region and its local customs.
 Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage project and staff.
 Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
 Ability to plan and prioritize own workload and the work of the team in order to meet tight deadlines with a strong eye on quality.
 Strong monitoring and reporting skills.
 Ability to work under pressure.
 Computers: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet.
 Languages: Arabic, English and/or French.
